Chasing Ghosts

Well, here we are as a society, blindly following the loudest person. Ready to obey ignorant confidence without checking for intelligence. Siding with a vocal minority that boasts nothing of substance at volume. And here I am ranting, as a vocal minority hoping to disillusion you of the hopes you placed on facades, including my own.

With every moment, every instance, we’re coached by ourselves and others, to improve and keep on building. Everyone expects it because it is what is expected of everyone. Everyone demands it, regardless of the cost. So you begin to assume that they have the answers you’re looking for, that you’re the only one who is adrift.

I spoke to people today, the healthy thing to do they say. They disappointed as per usual. Yet we look to each other to define who we are. We look at these absurd silhouettes who are nothing but ghosts that we created. Ghosts, who are nothing like the people they are based on. But of course, there isn’t a thing as exciting as our fantasies, so we go about chasing these ghosts, who in reality are letdowns in contrast to the pillars of strength you hyped them up to be.

So take a moment, and forget about your fragile social structures. They are bound to come crashing down all your life. Look to yourself rather than chasing ghosts for fictitious truths. However secure you assume they are, they’re chasing ghosts of their own, maybe even you, in search of the same answers.

But from these ghosts, you learn of some truths that will break your heart. Truths that you will be ashamed of. Truths that you will seal yourself against, by closing yourself off. But truths that you must absorb nonetheless because these truths show you that you’re not the only one without a grip.

So don’t go chasing ghosts.
